Tell Elena that that first picture perfectly captures every first day of school I have ever experienced -- and, I've had a lot of them!
These are awesome pictures. Great job Betty (nana, right?). You're obviously an excellent photographer to be able to capture the essence of a mobile subject like that.
She clearly is old enough, just exactly the right age, for pre-school. And, mamma, please don't make her promise things she can't possibly keep! You actually do want her to keep growing up and getting older - otherwise she'd be a very weird little girl, and she's anything but that!
