our last full day in california, we were able to go to huddart park, where mike had worked and played throughout his life, with his friends dan and peter. then we journeyed up to skyline drive, where you can see the smog over the bay on one side, and the fog over the coast on the other.
and as mike said, when you look over the coast side, you don't have to see what civilization hath wrought.
| it was a generally somber outing, but thankfully elena was there to keep us in check. |

Thankfully Elena is there, period! I think about that often. I know that I some ways, it must feel so much harder for you both that Mike is dying and will not get to be there for Elena as she grows up. That is a tragedy beyond words. But, fortunately, Elena is too young to grasp the enormity of her loss. At her age she still lives so much more in the moment and as such, forces both of you to do the same, I expect. That, I think can only be helpful. I think that Elena will be helpful to Amy, too, for the same reason, after Mike is gone, because she will "force" Amy to go on and live on a day to day basis and attend to Elena. Be alive and living with Elena, because Elena will need, demand and deserve no less than that.
I can't get over the great car pic. That girl is very clearly a Vosburg-Casey. Was she singing a song about that cookie?
