hiccups. shifts.

at one a.m. mike sat up in bed.

without warning something shifted. twisted onto itself and changed.
his path has veered into deeper woods.

not much later our house began to fill with family and friends

spiritual guides
storytellers
humorists
medical gurus

political theorists
conspiracy theorists
chaos theorists

and the like.

they stayed with us until just a few minutes ago.
bringing life and sharing life.

a much-needed circle of friends
as to the hiccups, they are horrible. almost anytime mike is awake he is hiccuping.

So sorry about the hiccups. I'm there with you, too, though only in spirit. Wish so much, right now, that we didn't live so far away.

I'm so glad you have such a great support network. If everyone that is thinking about you and loved you were to come by you would certainly need a much bigger yard.

Wish I could have been there. It is good to know the level of support that can role out in an instant. Hope that Mike can have the hiccups ease and be comfortable when awake. It can be funny at first but after an hour, it gets darn annoying!

The circle of those who love Mike is wide indeed. Sending love from Ithaca, NY, I'm a friend of Mike's from JVC. Thank you for sharing these moments, Amy - it helps to guide my prayers from afar.
